I hope you’ve enjoyed a wander through my work so far. If you’d like to find out a bit more about the person behind the art, please read on!
I grew up in Wales, always exploring and experimenting in art. Life then took me in a different direction, and I spent many years working as a veterinarian, squeezing in adventures and traveling around my career, eventually landing in New Zealand in 2016.
Recently I have escaped the confines of the clinic to study Ecology, work as a conservation field technician, and develop my illustration work.
My drawings are based on my many adventures, drawn in real time where possible, or from memories and photographs back home where time is more flexible and my hands are a bit warmer! I particularly enjoy drawing scenes with interesting textures and contrast in the landscape. Including man-made structures or people provides some context to the scene and opportunities to experiment with splashes of colour. I hope to convey the awe a person may feel in these wild places.
I aim to continue to draw the places I find myself in, but also to illustrate other people’s adventures on commission. My dream is to revive the concept of the expedition artist and join explorers, scientists, and adventurers to document their journeys in a creative way.
